There are acres of sugar cane, rows of tall coconut palms and regular torrential downpours. The Daintree, as it's known, is a vast area of virgin rainforest that can enjoy upto 15 feet of rain per year. Consequently many of the houses are built on stilts. The coastline is white with coral sand and thick vegetation almost to the water's edge. About 50 miles out to sea is the Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural Wonders of the World.
It's almost a paradise except for the heat and humidity, the bugs and the tornados. But then nothing's perfect . . .
