Top of the Sixties

June 6, 2011

I am delighted to announce a new addition to our growing list of titles: Top of the Sixties, a short story collection by David Ayres.

Top of the Sixties is a wonderful celebration of the sixties, stories about everyday life, about growing up, fighting your parents, discovering love and finding your feet in life. Fourteen stories which define an era, show the flip side of sixties celebrities’ memoirs and are populated by marvellous characters.

‘I wanted to write these stories down before there is no one left to pass them on,’ says author David Ayres.

‘I adore the stories, they instantly took me back to the sixties and its feeling of boundless optimism,’ according to the publisher Bernadette Jansen op de Haar.

David Ayres was a language teacher for many years before turning his attention to special needs education. He began writing poetry and short stories from an early age and won an award for English literature at school when he was just seventeen. His work has been widely published and although he has retired from the day job he continues writing because, as he tells people, he can’t help it.

Top of the Sixties will be published on 3 October 2011
